4/23/10 – Grant Rodiek’s Producer Blog: Firefighter, Investigator and Doctor careers Huge thanks to Simillions for spotting this new producer blog from Grant Rodiek covering the careers of the firefighter, investigator and doctor!* It was first spotted on the official French Sims 3 site, so the translation may be rough (some words are still in french and may leave you scratching your head.* Will replace it once the official English one is released! Anyone can become a hero… or at least a “kind” of heroes! I may be the only one to think, but I can’t imagine a child who would not become a hero when it will be great. We often start by comic with some capes or the superpowers heroes, but quickly, we recognize everyday heroes who are around us, as firefighters, doctors involved in emergency situations or detectives. When we are here to consider the additional disk, the Sims 3 ambitions, we had lots of ideas, but our hearts and our minds always returned to this dream of heroism. No fire is invincible… Fireman was the first career on which we set agreed to the Sims 3 ambitions. It was so enormous challenge and if logical option for our neighborhoods we had need to discuss the “why” of this profession. However, this does not resolved the problem of the “how”. The lamps were always disruptive elements in our games; we wanted so of course they are immense, dangerous, furious and… fun! Firefighters must perform a meticulous preparation to be able to take quick, informed and tactical decisions at the scene of the emergency. Firefighters can prepare for the fire station by the maintenance of their material, as for example of the new fire truck. A certain Athletics will be also very useful: indeed, a firefighter in shape is much more effective when he fought a fire! Finally, the DIY has an essential role in fire fighting. The handy Sims can improve truck fire, fire station, and even their personal extinguisher fire alarms. But places the action when the alarm sounds! Conversations interrupt tools are placed and it went! While your Sim precipitates in the workplace, it is important to consider the type of emergency, because it may be a small fire, an invasion of gnomes, a huge fire, earthquake or same dangerous experience that has gone wrong scientific laboratory. To keep a little mystery while explaining the first step, we’ll start with a small fire. Small fires are in fact often far from being. In fact, the term “small” is relevant as compared to the huge fire that your Sim will face later. When my Sim arrived on the scene, I like to pause and look around it. Where lamps in the home of the victim and where are most of the furniture in danger? I like to play a courageous and heroic fireman; I therefore try always to save as much property as possible. I could destroy everything for paving me a passage and extinguish the fire, but I prefer to think about that last victims overnight. Once I have well reviewed the situation, I select the lamps in order where I want to extinguish. While victims shout and panic outside, my firefighter goes flame torch to fight the fire and rescue situation. Phew, it was easy, finally! Of a huge fire, there is a chance that some Sims are stuck! To save them, my fireman Sim can push doors and extinguish the fires outside to enter to fight the fire inside. This may seem terrifying and stressful, but… This is part of my fireman Sim work! The investigator unscrupulous Grant McSolver is a brilliant private investigator whose reputation is more to do with the Sims city. It fixes its investigations and find answers it needs with a formidable efficiency. But unfortunately for the city, McSolver has virtually no scruples… There was this time where McSolver was hired to find information to its client to sing its competitor. In searching in a dustbin… uh… in doing searches, McSolver found the requested information but he decided to itself blackmail his customer competitor to win even more money… In another case, McSolver needed the permission of a suspect to find fingerprints and indices in his house. It could do this in a calm and polite manner, but McSolver is patient, nor polished! Instead of that, he used his faithful lock kit for entering the House. He found the fingerprints and took to “borrow” a television… For purposes of the inquiry, although heard! Stolen cars, disappearance of works of art, singer made by some scholarly Madhouse diabolical and planques endless: all this is part of the everyday life of a private investigator. With a creased raincoat and a hat, your Sims incarneront integrates investigator wanting to make the justuce règner or will it use dubious methods… you decide according to your desire for the moment. ! Few careers offer as many unexpected moments and a gameplay as rich as the investigator career. Grant McSolver may be a junk without scruples with a facheuse trend to circumvent the law, but your investigator does not need to follow the same path… Is there a doctor in the room? As for each profession additional drive the Sims 3 ambitions, we wanted that missions, experiences and moments of the game take place in the district and on the outside of buildings. Medical career was one of our favorite in the Sims 3. We have therefore wished to go further and develop the already solid bases of this profession. Physicians can now meet medical emergencies when they are out. Starting with “Is there a doctor in the room?” stories can finally come to life in the game. For example, imagine the bistro in the process of enjoying a romantic dinner with your dreams Sim… Suddenly, a panic wind blows in the restaurant: one customers stifles! Your Sim will precipitate, establishes the diagnosis and, hopefully, take the right decision! Not bad to impress for a first appointment! Physicians are not here as in the case of an emergency. Prevention is equally important! You will be able to open free health clinics for vaccinated population. The health of the community may well depend on your Sim performance! As with the other careers, doctors are not obliged to act in an ethical and honest manner… With a small reward companies can give your Sim to test on their patients investigational medicinal products. Nothing too serious should arrive and after all… everyone gains, not? It is your choice if your Sim will be recognized as a genuine hero in his town or as a manipulative quack and unscrupulous! The game allows you to complex and unexpected experiences that require you to think quickly and guide your Sims in the right direction to avoid the worst. You expect to be up to this challenge?
