HSphere accounts why doesnt simgames.net give the domain level 2 people reseller accounts so they can give the hosted members control panel access. just curious
Well, that could get complicated. You might need a whole load more servers, and al sorts of things. Well, I think so, I;m not an expert you see. You could get a free control panel. www.thezpanel.com is a free windows control panel, that can work with linux servers (I know, Someonewho works there told me. onkly v2.0 works with linux). ZPanel is on your server and uses mysql. No otherservers needed, plus it install scripts like phpNuke, phpbb, snitz forum, fusionnews, and other scripts!
maybe because simgames.net is not a webhost for resellers, more for gaming sites. that simgames.net is allowing free hosting for other sites is the best thing I've ever heard. a free host allowing you to host other sites
Actually, your right. Simgames.net is the only place that allows all this FOR FREE! Be lucky you can host sites, and all the other great features.
i know, and i appreciate all that simgames does. i was just wondering, since we can host sub sites, if they had ever considered it
I have considered it, and I decided quickly it was a very bad idea. While we allow members to host other people, I do not like it at all, and the recent changes have been a step toward curbing what's already a fairly quantifiable abuse of the system. Given SimGames.net members reseller access would allow the users to define their own plans and give them far too much control over what resource they can gain access to. Furthermore, it would mean that we would have SimGames.net hosting members that host members which host members. That's just insane. I have regularly considered disallowing members from hosting sites at all, but I've decided that under the right conditions it is acceptable, but for the most part, I want you here to host a fan site, not a hosting network. Anyone whose main goal with this hosting is to run a hosting network is not welcome here.
Ok. So, you don't like the idea of members hosting other sites. I can see why, I think, well, I'm not so sure now, oh I'll just shut up. I offer hosting (I'm gonna accept one , so that way, I won't out do my site, and then I won't get visitors just for the hosting, which I'm thinking of stopping) plus I'm mainly gonna host other sites to try and increase the simcity community, since simcity sites are closing down, I want to get new fresh ones up, and keep them up!
Cant you limit the number of hosted sites and such, and limit functions? And then if you even decided, in the acceptable use policy that hosted ites of hosted members are not allowed to host sites perhaps. I know it gets annoying when a site that i might host wants some email set up for their staff and such, they have to go through me, or when i they need a subdomain and then they also need another ftp account, so by not doing this it also wastes your resources.
