Newbie questions Hi all Only had an hour on OFB so far, so I realise I will learn more with time, but help me get started. 1. I went to bed while my shop was open (naively thinking my staff would call it a night at 11) and they kept working till 2ish, went home, came back, went almost straight away, came back again... Am I meant to say "enoughs enough" to them before I go to bed? Have they no common sense, it's a flower shop for goodness sakes! 2. My workers had little coloured circles (that got redder as time went by) so I assume that is their mood. Is there any way to find out WHY they are upset? Methinks the fact that the only toilet and fridge in the lot were behind a locked door might have helped... 3. How do you buy wholesale items? I can't find any special heading in the buy catalogue. 4. So as you could, in theory (sleep aside) have staff working for you 24 hours a day, if you hire a playable sim from another lot and then go to play them (where I understand their job is listed as working for xxx), will they have a car pool to meet and such? Ummm, that's pretty much it. I just don't have the hang of workers really. I suppose I should have given them breaks and access to food and toilets etc...
I think you need an open/close sign for the front wall of your shop. I don't have employees for mine but I know that when I close the store all the customers leave, so I assume employees would leave, too. If you have the business license and the business gizmo up in the right hand corner of the screen, click on the price tag. There's a padlock (I'm guessing that's what it is) symbol. Click that and you get to buy things wholesale. The buy catalog will light up yellow. Anyway, I'm new at this, too, and I'm not in the game this morning so I can't be sure about this but I'm sure someone will come on board here soon enough and correct me if I'm wrong. Sounds like a good idea.
Employees will not automatically leave when you close the shop. So it gives you the option of keeping them around to help restock, tidy up, etc. You would have to send them home yourself, either by using the sign or by clicking on the employee and choose management...send home for the day. Likewise, you can call in your employees before you open the shop. Just in case you didn't get all that restocking done the night before!
Change the locks to allow employees to use the toilet unless you want them all to quit, or make puddles ... I let customers use the potty too, but not the break room. Employees get treated like household in my stores, to keep them happy. Full use of break room, etc. If it's a home business and you don't want them watching TV or playing the piano, you should figure out a way to make the kitchen and bath the break rooms and lock the door to the rest of the house ... Yes, if you hire a player sim they'll go to work from 9 to 5 M-F just like a normal sim job. The carpool takes them to work (or they can drive). You don't get to play them at work.
