The 2012 National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition kicks off this week in San Antonio, TX. Beginning April 20, ten universities from around the Nation will be battling for the top honors of being this year’s cyber defense competition.
These teams have worked countless hours since last year’s competition, practicing, researching, and testing their skills state and regional trials and mock competitions.
This year’s competition features the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Air Force Academy, UNC Charlotte, Rochester Institute of Technology, Texas A&M University, Towson University, St. Cloud State University, University of Wymong, Cal-Poly Pomona, and University of Washington.
The next two days will be challenging for these ten schools as they battle against computer hackers, portrayed by industry computer and network security professionals) while trying to sustain their virtual businesses.
In a day and age where data breaches are on the rise, these students will rise to the ranks of various state, federal, local and private industries in protecting critical infrastructure and sensitive, confidential, information.
The competition runs from April 20 to 22 at the Saint Anthony Hotel in San Antonio, TX.
