Troubleshooting Graphic Card not detected

Hi everyone.

I have The Sims 3 installed along with a few expansions and it has worked fine since I installed it a few months ago. Last week I played The Sims 3 and it worked just fine. But I tried playing today and when I clicked the "play" button on the launcher this error message appeared:

"Device 0 cannot run this title.
No supported video graphics card detected.
Please check your system hardware"

Please help, I've never had this kind of problem before and have tried googling a possible solution but haven't got an answer yet!

 

click the start button and type in dxdiag in the search bar and click enter.
Let it run and when it's done click save all information and save it as a text file.
Include that with your reply and we'll see if we can help you.
Mare than likely you have a system with integrated graphics (built-in graphics chip on the main circuit board or motherboard ) that's not capable of playing the game.

It worked and then it quit and you haven't added anything to the game since you ran it last ?
Any custom content or anything like that ?
I would suggest you copy the entire sims 3 folder in your documents folder and rename it something else and then let the game try to run again and see if it works.
There may be the possibility a new update changed something in the game or in your settings that's stopping the game from running or you may have some custom content (if that is the case) that is overwhelming the game to where the hardware in the laptop is thinking it can't run the game no more.

 

I have custom content installed but no, I haven't installed custom content lately. Anyway I tried what you suggested about renaming the sims 3 folder and tried to open the game and it still doesn't work.

My brother tried to play one of his games today and none of them opened either. He plays Flight Simulator X, Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike Source and a few more. So we've reached to the conclusion that the graphic card on my pc might be partly damaged (I suppose that's possible), and I mean partly because I can still play those insulse time management games that require almost nothing from the graphic card, such as Diner Dash and Ricochet.

 

I downloaded and installed a newer driver version, and guess what?
THE SIMS 3 IS RUNNING AGAIN!!!! :'D

i installed sims 3 but when i start the game it says your video card wont recognize but my graphic card is listing on the .srg file
plz help me out :(

 

Video card alone doesn't mean it will support the game , the game is very heavily cpu and memory dependent.
There's a good possibility that a video driver upgrade might help you but the dxdiag is the thing we need to help you the best.

 

recently when i came home from school on friday I got my computer and turned on the sims 3. When I got to the start page it said my video card was not recongized and they would have to reduce my settings which confused me. I have had my computer over a year and have been playing the sims 3 game without any problems. Now when I play my game it is running too slow and the game won't let me change my screen size. there are now only three options for screen size. please help me I have been looking all over the internet for solutions and I even tried factory reset but I still end up with the same results.
