I have that problem with Firefox as well. I think I ended up just using Chrome or IE.

If that is the problem then yes. Until EA fixes it there is not much you can do.
From what I can find, it seems to be a problem whenever the game tries to create or load a horse. It only affects Macs and it doesn't look like EA...
