There is nothing wrong with the DVD version, I have the DVD version and it works fine. It's just that a DVD-rom will ONLY run in a DVD player...
Try going to your Start menu, then All Programs, then EA Games, then Sims 2 and you should see Sims 2 Bodyshop right under Sims 2 :D
