DarkSpore – player camera options & new screen Over at the DarkSpore forums, member RoxasXiii raised an important question about the camera controls for Maxis’ newest entry in the Spore franchise – camera controls.* During the gameplay video, we saw that the camera appeared to be fixed – similar to that of Diablo 2.* Roxas wanted to know if we had the ability to control the camera ourselves, and MaxisSparks managed to chime in with some information as well as a new screen: We made it so you can zoooom in your camera while you play so you can see all the cool parts and modifications. We got it as close as we possibly could. We wanted it nice and tight so you could really see your work. It really brings home how this Hero is yours. You’ll want to zoom out a bit though to play. Darkspore is all about the action around you, and zoomed in that much it’s impossible to see what’s going on. We made the regular camera so that you get the best angle to fight from. I snuck a screenshot in for you to compare. Here’s Monsieur Plasma himself, all zoomed in, posing for a portrait: He doesn’t have any parts yet. Hmm… I need to play some more!
