Facts & images from The Sims 3 Ambitions Prima Guide

It appears that The Sims 3 Ambitions Prima Guide can now be found in stores as some people are already picking it up and sharing information about the expansion!* The following info is provided thanks to all of the wonderful Simmers on the official Sims 3 forum.* People to thank:* Benr783, Simmerd80, StarMcLight2, and SimSassybree. More information after the jump, but for a more organized and up-to-date information please visit the thread at the official Sims 3 forum.

The inventor can invent several things. At level 1, decorative “widgets” and at level 2 toys for all sims

it can make a sort of hygenic floor sprayer, which boosts hygiene when walked on. Next is the “harvester” which can clean up spills and harvest plants/get newspapers

There is also a “miner” which you can use to dig a hole to find gems/metals (there is “woohooium, a new metal lol)

after that is the time machine, which gives the “travelled through time” moodlet. your sim can bring back relic-like objects, or change something that happened in the past (like adding a new member to family, or making your sim a ghost, or a mummy (with wa), etc

then the simbot which can is born with a high handiness/inventing skill. they are unlocked by a lifetime reward “my best friend” or by doing a oppertunity chain (like omni plant)

There are a ton of new rabbitholes (Same functions, new meshes) sadly, the open restaurant is just a rumor :/

looking for that now. something cool: there are 10 levels of each skill career, a certain # of simoleons earned from that skill promotes you. You can get cash bonuses for certain skill-career promotions

One emergency is a “large house fire/earthquake”

It doesn’t say much more. I assume it is the same as in the walkthrough video.

you can also fight disasters in rabbit holes, although your sim won’t see what he is doing.

Meteor showers are in the game and cause a new death. Death by Meteorite. This has a higher chance if your Sim is looking through the telescope or is outdoors. A foreboding music and warning will appear and if you do not move your sim out of the way they will be hit and instantly killed. They will then appear and an orange colored ghost. But babies and Children cannot be hit.

    The Simbot cannot fly.

Also I got a kick out of the new Dramatic trait.

    Description:
Everyday situations in life deeply stir the imagination, emotions, and reactions of Dramatic Sims.

Benefits: Dramatic Sims enjoy extra mood boost when good things happen to them. They respond with great enthusiasm to major, positive life events like getting engaged/married, having a child, or getting a promotion at work.

Shortcomings: If Dramatic Sims have to undertake a menial task, like taking out the trash, they whine and get a mood hit. Dramatic Sims have a greater chance of just breaking up with a partner during the course of an argument and are likely to outright slap a Sim who insults them, which causes major relationship decay.

Unique Features: Dramatic Sims respond to complaints from other Sims with a yawn. They have new socials. including Whine About Life, Pretend to Faint, and Tell Dramatic Story. After performing the pretend to faint social, Dramatic Sims get a special positive moodlet: Thespian.” -Prima

I read this whole book already. Its quite small the size of a paperback but convenient.

It tells nothing of the earthquakes other then looping it in with the large fire category. It only says these emergencies (large fires and earthquakes) are more dangerous and must be put out as soon as possible. Very little detail is given. I suppose they want us to be surprised.

They said we can invent 3 types of monsters. One being the Simbot and the other being a mummy if you have WA but it said nothing of the third monster. So maybe a surprise?

This guide was worth a read but I kind of feel like I didn’t walk away with much more info then I had before but for $15 it was worth it to gain some info!

Edit Town Tool – If you play Ambitions with an existing household from either the Sims3 or one you started within World Adventures, you must follow the easy to use new venue installer the first time you start up the game. Simply place the new venues in your existing neighborhood in locations that are properly sized for the venue. This system is similar to the Edit Neighborhood function you used in Sims 3 to rearrange the town, if so desired.

It does not provide any information on new diseases. It simply states that the doctor can do medical outreach. Meaning they will have events kind of like the “sigh autograph” feature where you go to the selected area in town and a bunch of Sims will crowd around your Doctor Sim and be waited on to get vaccinations. Your Doctor Sim will have to hand out vaccinations in a timely manner that is allotted.

The Free Clinic event is pretty much the same way. Sims will gather around and wait for you to diagnose them. Your Sim will hold up portable x-ray machine and deduce the other Sims potential problem. Then administer the treatment.
One of the notes were to follow up with patients for LTR boost.

They mention local emergencies when your Doctor Sim is on a community lot. They may encounter other Sims choking in which case you have a new social interaction “Medical Attention” in which case you save the Sim and other onlooker Sims will point and cheer increasing the relationship will all those who watched.

One thing they mentioned in the guide about the medical field was you can now do vaccinations around town. You will even have a time limit to perform these tasks. Sims will start crowding you to get their shots. You will give shots until the time is up. The only thing I see on diseases is in the medical opportunities which says “test for disease” at community location to help wtih the outbreak

You know what I found interesting? When I was thumbing through the guide I noticed to get promoted in jobs we no longer have to meet all coworkers or be all nice to the boss. It all runs on our experience points. The more points we get the chances we have to get promoted goes up per our career choices. I thought that was pretty interesting a new.

The sylist careerhas the following job titles:

    Fashion Fledgling
    Tafferta Trainee
    Polka Dot Specialist
    Trendsetter in Training
    In Vogue Virtuoso
    Haute Hot Shot
    Couture Connoisseur
    Fashionista/Fashionisto
    Fashion Phenomenon

At level 6 stylists recieve the Give Fashion advice social

One a Sim reaches level 3, jobs outside the salon are unlocked.

Makeover Basics have requests that span between three catagories: new outfits, new hair and new make up.

A Sim who wants new clothes will designate which specific outfit they would like you to change

Male Sims can request new facials

One of the responsibilities of a stylist is to research fashion which you can do by owning or using a drafting table. Your sim will sketch new fashion as they research and completed ones will go in their portfolio.

    New traits are:

    Born Salesperson:

Description: Not only do Born Salespeople often sell their wares for more money then other Sims, they know the importance of a good reputation and can quickly build oneat the consignment store.

    Eco-Friendly:

Description: Eco-Friendly Sims prefer a lifestyle of energy conservation, recycling and sustainable eating (as in organic food)

Description: Perceptive Sims make kneen investigators. Their ability to investigate and stake out potential criminals is unsurpassed.

Description: Savvy Sculptors know the ins and outs of sculpting. These Sims make teh best sculptures around.

FireFighter Superhero: Save 30 lives on the job in the Firefighter profession.

For this you will have to hit the weights and bulk up so definately work on your body skills. Also it says you should have a sharp mind, brave heart and the ability to stay calm under pressure so take the Brave trait for this one.

Paranormal Profiteer: Reach level 10 in the Ghost Hunter profession.

This career is all about raising your logic as you go out collecting ghosts so make sure your logic is high.

Pervasive Private Eye: Solve 35 cases on the job in the Investigator profession

Part of being a good Investigator is having a computer on your lot just in case you have to hack into something. Also you should have good logic skills

This one says it all. Master these three skills.

    Monster Maker: Create 3 monsters

Advance in inventing so you can create Sim bots and if you have world adventure crafting mummies also count for this one.

Possession is Nine Tenths of The Law: Posses 50,000 worth of stolen goods

Maining the Criminal career path, use those klepto traits to your advantage

No, no custom tattoos but you can change color and size of the ones in game

I’m not sure how it will work in game for customers. The book speaks of the chair being in the Salon and being able to go over to it (or if you can afford to put one in your house) and choose to get a tattoo.

It doesn’t list the tats but they show a small picture of some like: the plumbob, the famous woohoo heart that smiles, yellow moon, stars, a heart with a white cloth across it, a broken red heart, the money simple (Sim style), a llama, fire, skull with cross bones, or a skull with fire for hair.

That’s all it shows, you can change the size and place the tattoos in four places: back, arm, chest and ankle. Within each body location you can choose a few different parts, for example, if you choose back you can pick the shoulders, small of the back or right in the center.

The Consignment Store’s primary use is mainly a business where Sims can buy and sell goods. To actually make a transaction you must approach the register in the rear of the store to get the attention of the shop clerk. The clerk will then show you which objects are available for sale and the prices. You can sell muliple items or buy items as well. If you want to sell items, each day the store will inform you which objects of yours were sold. Objects lose a little value each day they are at the store.

1 day at the shop: Selling price -200%
2 days at the shop: Selling price – 170%
3 days at the shop: Selling price – 130%
4 days at the shop: Selling price – 110%
5 days at the shop: Selling price – 100%

If you keep selling the same object over and over the price drops and the clerk will inform you that customers are getting bored with your stuff. At the end of the 5th day anything not sold is returned.

As you build up your reputation, the less money the store will take from you for having to stock your items.

A level of 200 reputation means the store takes 10% of your payment
A level of 4,000 reputation means the store takes 5% of your payment
A level of 8,000 reputation means the store takes 0% of your payment.

Sims with born salesperson trait build their reputation faster
Sims who purchase the Suave Selling LTR sell good for more money

Yes, Sims can invest through real estate. To invest in a puchasable venue, choose the Purchase interaction on the establishment from the town map. The base price of the venue is displayed, which must be paid to acquire the venue. There is no payment plan for investing in rteal estate. Once you’ve bought a venue and been awarded the deed you may name it anything you want.

You may also use Build Mode to create a venue from the ground up however you fcannot just errect walls and place a treadmill and cfall it a gym and expect a weekly payment. You will have requirements to complete, you must meet level 1 set of requirement. These are your upgrades which you need for maintaing the operation of the venue.

In buy mode you can install new objects at a customizable venue.

You will be told what you need for each area. For example. If you picked to buy a Laundromat…

    Base Price: 11,000
    Weekly Income Tier 1: 1,100
    Weekly Income Tier 2: 2,000
    Weekly Income Tier 3: 4,300
    Required Value Tier 1: 11,000
    Required Valeu Tier 2: 16,500
    Required Value Tier 3: 25,500
    Required Objects Tier 1: 2 Washers, 2 Dryers, 1 Sink, 1 Toliet
    Required Objects Tier 2: 4 Washers, 4 Dryers, 2 Sink, 2 Toliets
    Required Objects Tier 3: 6 Washers, 6 Dryers, 2 Sink, 2 Toliets

    Sculpting info:
At first your sculptures are random, once you make an item you can make it again from memory.

There is a huge list of items to sculpt and you can sculpt Clay, Wood, Ice, Stone, Metal, and Topiary (only clay is available when you start). You can get different shades of the clay, wood, and stone that is random when you scult.

Some examples of things you can sculpt, they become possible at different levels of scupting. I am not sure what happens after you exceed the max level for each item if you havent made it. Hopefully it will automatically be in you list of know scuptures.

    Venus Statue 6+
    Unicorn Statue 8+
    Magic Gnome 5+
Table de Bistro Dining table 3-7
    The Olafian Living Chair 9+
    Toy Box 1-4

Random things: When sculting Ice and Stone it may randomly shatter (destroying it). With Ice your Sim may lean in to lick it, getting their tongue stuck for a few moments and when they are free there is a possibility the ice will shatter and reveal a complete statue. Metal sculpting, the blowtorch may malfunction and burn the sim. When making a topiary animal, they may try to touch it up and end up cutting off the head. I can forsee headless topiary gardens for some sims.

You and buy and sell at the consignment store, your items start selling at twice their value and after 5 days will sell at value and if it doesnt sell it is returned to your inventory. There is a fee of 15% to sell that will go down the better your rep is. You get 50 rep for every item you sell, it takes 200 rep to get 10% fee, 4k for 5%, and 8k for 0%. There are hidden skill challenges for selling, 150 objects you get a 15% chance boost to sell your objects, $25k of sales gets you a profit title that lowers the fee by 15% and finally 8k rep and you get store rep title and an extra 15% chance to sell items. Born Salesman builds rep faster and sells items for more, liftime reward Suave seller also sells items for more.
