Game Keeps crashing to a black screen Hey everyone thanks for reading my issue. Well I'll get to the point. I have got all the expansions for the Sims 2 and a couple stuff packs and I can load the game up fine and it will run just fine for sometimes 30 minutes or sometimes 10 before my screen goes black and the screen says "No Signal" like it has just shut down but still running. I have tried everything i feel from updating drivers to even lowering graphics in the game. Also i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the sims 2 and this achieved nothing and yes I did have all background tasks closed and virus protection off.
I know I've had basically the same problem with Oblivion doing this to me and turning the resolution down a setting has helped me immensely. Is there the possibility that your power supply isn't powerful enough to handle this card? I'm thinking it needs to be in the 350 - 400 watt output range for it to run this card. Or maybe it's starting to fail would be a guess too.
More power you say....yeah coz oblivion does crash alot on me to...the computers only a year old so wouldnt be dead yet lol....what u mean by turning the resolution down?? With Oblivion and The Sims 2 they run perfect then just die
Well i was running Oblivion at 1600 x 1200 resolution with 2 7800 gtx's in sli and it was all the time dumping to a black screen but still playing . when i turned the resolution down to a 1280 x 1024 the problem quit. I do use a lot of mods for Oblivion (texture mods etc.) so maybe it was strained a bit when it did that. The reason I say maybe the PSU is a potential cause is if the card is not getting the proper amount of power it cause the card to quit working and give you the black screen. Also an el cheapo brand of psu will not be as good as a good brand of psu in the amount of watts it might put out. for instance say putting a 350 watt psu out of an HP computer next to a Antec 350 watt psu the Antec will outperform the cheapo psu by a large margin because it's a better built psu. on another note have you tried a different video driver too?

The card gets 500w or whatever you were saying so it cannot be that. Maybe because i have a lot of downloaded content on the game maybe some of it is corrupted?? I dont really wanna get rid of all me downloaded content because it use to work fine with it until recently when I got Bon Voyage. It did do it with Seasons until they released the patch then it worked fine. But now with Free Time its worse then ever
It could quite well be something is not Freetime ready and might be causing the black-outs as you call them. You might look into downloading Rivatuner from the web and use it to monitor your card's temperature. Another possibility is that it is approaching an over-heat temperature shut-off point and the pc is simply shutting it down before it gets too hot to cause damage to the card. Are you using the Ntune program with your card by chance? I heard it's not the best to use and that Rivatuner is more preferred than it.
Yeah actually i am using Ntune. So ill try downloading RivaTuner and see if I still have problems. Yeah I dunno if it is the downloads coz i tried playing without them but still did it so. It could be that Freetime has a bug maybe but the games been doing it anyway before I got Freetime so highly unlikely. I'll let you know how I go after i download it ok.
