    The Twin Hack

This twin hack sounds great, I'd love to get it! I know it can be found @ TheModsims2, which is what I believe one of you said. I've typed into Google, Yahoo, and even the Sims 2 site, but I just cannot find the address. Please share it and let me know it ASAP!

    Thanks so much. :D

After experimenting with several families, I have been having one child, waiting for it to grow into a kid, then have another baby. However, I have had about 10 boys and only one girl. Is it completely random or what? no twins yet, I hope i never get any.

just type in "mod the sims 2" in your search and you could find it :) the twins hack is under the forums section :D but a serious warning is it can be rather tough raising them, especially when they turn to toddlers, because toddlers just love to scream once they are awake to have their parents take them out of the bed  and as a result the parents will wake up too

*ps. the toddlers live in the same room as the parents, but you could put them in a different room :D my house was rather small so there wasn't enough space for another room lol

Just another thought to keep this lively thread ticking over. I just had my second set of twins. Argh! No cheats or hacks involved but I realised that both times I had set up the nursery before the babies were born. (As I usually play without cheats money is nearly always too scarce to buy anything before it is absolutely needed ... besides I'm kinda corny and I like to color-coordinate the nursery furniture to the child ... and $15 for recoloring is $15 too many when ever $$ counts :p

Now I am not being paranoid but it occurred to me that it is possible that the AI has been programed to increase the chance of twins if a single cot is present ... kinda like the Maxoids decided to tease those players who like to count their hens before the eggs hatch ... ;) Anyone think they can confirm (or confound) this slightly screwball theory? :p

Mirelly, that's interesting about the nurseries, but unfortunately I think it was probably just a coincidence. I've had 21 Sim pregnancies and only one set of twins (the 3rd pregnancy). And more often than not there's already a crib on the lot when the baby is born since I save them and just move them to the "attic" with my families when they are not in use.

Though actually in a few of my houses there is more than one crib... either there was a baby and toddler at the same time in the house in the past or in a couple multi-story houses that have extra space there is a crib in the upstairs nursery and one in the living room. So maybe the game won't give me twins because I'd be prepared for them with extra cribs? Who knows!

At first I didn't much care that I wasn't getting more twins since the first pair were a bit of a trick to raise. But recently I've wanted to get twins again as I'm playing a couple families moddled after RL friends, both of whom have twins. But no luck. And I've tried the "tricks" I've come across. Like the cookies/chips and the meditating the whole pregnancy. Neither worked. I'm considering using the mod to get twins for those families, but I haven't done so yet.

As far as I can tell twins are truly random. :ermm:

Random? I doubt it  I had I can't remember how many pregnant simmies I had, with NOT even ONE set of twins, therefore I thought it was like in sims1 where you only get ONE child, till I see people posting about getting twins and more. I only used the hack once to test having a pair of twins for once in my sim life and later on I took the patch out to test if I'll be lucky enough to strike having twins without needing the patch but NOPE no twins either :( and to make matters worst, some of my sims are having trouble getting pregnant although I've tried the "try for a baby" option like a gazillion times

maybe the game hates me :(

The "infertile couple" scenario is interesting, Jess. I have had something like 35 pregnancies.

One died on day 2 with hunger deeply amber -- she died next to plateful of omlettes. :(
    Two ended with twins.
Almost all pregnancies were started on the first attempt. 4 or 5 needed a second go. One needed 3 tries.

I have one couple that has been "at it" like rabbits for a week and still they can't get the nursery music-box jingle its way through Rock-a-bye, baby ... I guess as IRL some sims just don't have what it takes. ;)

well I actually gave up on 3 sim couples I made because they we're having problems having a child  I opted for adoption but the social worker took the child away because of falling grades  it's quite sad to see your sims not getting a child even. One of the couples, tried having a child more than 10 times I think, but it still wouldn't work till grandma was so tired of it that she wound up hugging a pillow thinking its her grandchild. For a moment I was worried she'll go nuts because she does that everyday and now grandpop is picking up the habit :( and when the adopted child was taken away by the social worker, grandma and grandpop was having a hard time accepting it :(

I found that if I start a family, man and women that are married and they have the family goals then the try for a baby in a double bed, they get twins!

<sob> that story just breaks my heart, Jess. A pox on all social workers, that's what I say. Nothing but a bunch on interfering busy-bodies. There's not a single one of them has a clue what it's like in the real simworld trying to raise children. I mean ... it's not as if they come with an instruction book is it? (Eh? Waddaya mean "Strategy Guide"? :p )

its quite sad and crazy watching grandma and grandpop cry over the loss child everyday and grandma even lectured my sim parents once in awhile, talk about tough old lady :p but yeah, Im still stuck with grandma and grandpop hugging the pillow every now and then and going gaga over the "grandchild"

(shivers) This grandma/grandpa mourning over the child taken by social services is too close to real life for me! I swear, this game makes these people wayyyy too real!!

I have been trying out both the energizer theory and the meditation theory with no luck. So far I cannot figure out what the "trick" is. I have used the energizer only once during the pregnancy, used it all 5 times during the pregnancy, and not at all but meditiated, or used it once and then meditated. Still no more twins.

I've found that if you buy a pizza and the mom can just eat that it works very well indeed.

    Social Workers...

Oh yeah, I had problems with them two... I had gotten through a family that had four toddlers, but the two adults weren't married yet, then the kids grew to children and I got the parents to fall in love and get married, I didn't know that they were going to leave after the marrige and the social worker came and tried to take one of the two boys away, I got so mad that I scrapped that session and had to start over again.

I myself don't even know what the trick is either. There are players who have been getting twins without even trying and Im stuck not having any when Im trying! lolx therefore the twins hack really made me happy finally! but I only tried it on one family which I rarely play because I wouldn't wanna make my favourite family's lives topsy turvy when they already have 3 kids! :D

Hey everyone! Sorry about the misleading information about the twins hack. I wasn't sure the name of the fourm/website, but now I'm sure that its called: Mod the Sims 2 and that if you go on the Sims 2 site and go under fansites, you cna find it near the top of the list and thats easier than looking under google, I think.

It can actually be surprisingly easy to raise kids on a single parent instead of two parents: With only one parent around, the kid, once a toddler, rolls wants for ONLY that parent, which means you don't have to drag in both parents to fill wants, since normally, in a two-parent household, the kid will roll about 50/50 for both parents. This means a single-parent child actually requires less attention, since after the usual snuggle/tickle/talk routine, you'll roll "Gain a Skillpoint". This will put the kid off to a good start both aspirationally and skillpoint wise. So there are actually distinct benefits to raising kids on a single parent, even with twins. The only tricky part is maintaining funding, but money trees usually can fill that one. I managed this on a single mother, a romance sim to boot, with less bank than the Brokes, and a job that couldn't be attended because nannies cannot be trusted with babies.

I totally agree. I had to get both parents to attend to the toddler just to fulfill his/her wants. Which was quite difficult. When I had the twin babies, I had to make both the sim parents attend to each child, one after the other just to keep its "Wants" and boost its aspiration meter. It was quite difficult especially after dad comes home from work awfully tired.

Moreover, there was once, I didnt know why either, my sim toddler hates his sim mom. He dislikes it when his mom plays with him. When I checked their relationship meter, he had a "-2" relationship towards his mom. Thats really odd. Has anyone ever encountered this problem?
