I need some serious solution!.

First: Hello everyone, greetings from Argentina!!!... if i have mistakes in writing, please, be nice.... i'm doing my best!.



Well, after creating this thread, i have passed hours reading all the threads created of the problem with DirectX 9.0c:

"Failed to find DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics in the System! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer."

I have done ALL the things that you have said: update drivers and directx, EVERYTHING!!!.... and i have formated my pc so i have it "light" and fresh.

The strange thing is that in other time, i have installed and play The Sims 2 in this same computer, without this error......

I'm pretty lost, i could use some help, and the primary idea of this thread is to find a REAL solution to this trouble, and we can enjoy the game at last.

Hi, Pupi. Hope this doesn't put a stain on your day, but you really need to upgrade WinXP to service pack 2.

If the game is reporting "failed to find directx device" then you need to run
didiag which will tell you everything your computer knows about its directx installation. The display tab on the report contains a number of buttons to test the directx device. You need to run all three.

If any of the tests are unavailable try restarting your computer. If that doesn't work then you may have a problem with the GeForce display card.

dxdiag: Start >> Run >> type: dxdiag and press the [ENTER] key on keyboard.

Hi!!.... before installing Windows XP SP1, i have installed the SP2, and i have this error... so, i think it could be some kind of incompatibility, so i format my pc again and i have installed SP1...... with the same results: the error.

BUT!!... now, in the dxdiag, in the Screen tab where the DirectDraw - Direct3D - Texture buttons are, i have found that the last one (texture) is disabled and i cant enabled back....... it could be that, no?....

Two points.

1) SP2 is an upgrade over and above SP1 I doubt you can even "install" SP1 after SP2. Please check this carefully.

2) If one of the Direct Draw features is unavailable for testing then there is a clear indication that your GeForce card is faulty.

The "fault" may be one of the following problems:-

(a) Card not properly fitted (loose badly seated in AGP/PCI slot)
(b) Card not properly connected (is your monitor plugged into the correct socket?
(c) Card not properly installed (wrong drivers - or Operating System fatal error - if the correct driver is installed then restarting Windows will usually allow the drivers to re-initialize).
(d) Hardware failure - this is expensive and irreparable option :eek
(e)

Well, the card is properly fitted and properly installed, and the monitor is properly connected... but the DirectX error is still here....

Well, i have fixed the DxDiag registry error upgrading Windows XP SP1 to the SP2..... but... the error is still there.

Ah!... and i cannot play The Sims 2 in windows modes, and im doing the steps all right...

Have you tried cleaning your registry? This might help. If you don't have a registry cleaner and you dont want to pay for one there's a free one here

ok, just checking here but you ran the registry cleaner? Not just installed it. If so then you will probably need to reinstall direct x again.

 

Further to the above.

After upgrading to SP2 and performing registry clean you should definitely reinstall

Directx
Nvidia latest drivers

Then restart the computer and run dxdiag to confirm there are no errors before proceeding.

Well.... i dont see anyway of playing Sims 2.

I have created a partition and install Win98 and The Sims 2 in the partition... but the result was the same: The error of Directx Adapter.

I cant understand why in other times i was able to play Sims 2 in this computer with the same video card and everything, and now, i cant....

Is strange!, very strange!.......... i was thinking: if i install an Expansion Pack, it will change something?.... :(

 

Doubtful. The game probably still won't be able to find what it needs even if you install something else.

Any solution?..... as we know my computer is up to minimum requerimients, and the video card works for the game, but i have this error.....
