Is says something about a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics addapter

O. K. I just bought the sims 2 and am very excited to start playing it!!!

The only problem is that i can't play it!!!

I've installed the game but everytime i put the disk in it says something

about a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter!!!

I've installed one from microsoft and even updated it but everytime I put

the game in it says the same thing!!!

I'll point you where to go...if you are on XP, do the following:

Go to your start menu, select Run then type in dxdiag in the box. When it comes up, save all of the information to a .txt file - it will give you that option. Post it here so I can look at your graphics card and give you the proper link for the new drivers.

Jordan, it gives you a solution in your DXDIAG.

DirectX Files Tab: The file quartz.dll is missing! The file d3d9d.dll is a debug version, which will run slower than the retail version. You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version.

Display Tab 1: The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer. Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

By the way, is this a laptop or a desktop? It looks like it doesn't have any graphics/video card, which is probably why you are getting those errors posted above.

ok what is my problem i went in and installed a Direct3D download but it didn't work and i don't have the manufacturer's cd and this is a desktop

 

Have you played Sims2 on this sytem before Stretch14?
If you have I'm surprised because I don't see how the current specs of your computer would let you.
You only have 512 mb of ram in your computer and windows xp needs at a minimum 512 mb of ram to run smoothly even if it is the Home version.
secondly your integrated chipset is only half what's required for a video card or chip to run the game.
The game calls for a 32 mb video card or chip and yours is only 16 mb.
So I would say your video chip isn't up to snuff to play the game .
Sorry to tell you this.
Maybe if you could have some more memory installed (at least 1024MB) if your motherboard will support that much and also find out if a video card with at least 256 mb of memory on the card can be installed on your computer.
But before you can do that you'll need to find out what video card interface is on the motherboard and what the max output in wattage from your power supply is as well.
You can go here and use the memory configurator to find out how much memory can be installed on your computer.

ok i'm back because i think there's a difference between the games we are talking about i have the Sims 2 Double Deluxe. Is there something else i have to do since my game might b different and i keep getting the same message about DirectX 9.0c

 

There's no difference in what you have and the other versions of sims 2 out there.
Your version just comes with the base game and an expansion pack and maybe a stuff pack.

Provided by the manufacter. This application will now terminate.
