I don't know the rules about mentioning "other" sim sites, but it is a pre-requisite to scan all uploads to ModTheSims2 through the clean installer and list any and all custom content in your lot description. You can even see inside the package before you download it to see if there is any custom content in it. So, not only is the Official site good for downloading "clean" houses, but MST2 has them too. None of my uploads ever contain custom content, because I figure if people want that stuff, they'd download it themselves.
