I also recently bought the Sims 2 for my PC.
As it turns out when i tryed to play it after inserting all 4 Cd's, it wouldn't work.
It cost me $90 AUS and all it told me was that my computer didnt have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter, waste of money!
I tried downloading the DirectX 9.0c but that didnt work, so wot should i do?
I dont even know wat it is, or how to get it!
    HELP!!!

You could first tell us what sort of video card you have :)

    Please help me!!!

Hello there all--I must say that this is the first time that I have ever done any thing like this. :p

I need help with the Sims 2 adaptor thing

I have an Intel 82810 chip set and I think I need a new one--I don't think that downloading current drivers will help. Can anyone comment on this??

    Thanks for any help!;)

The graphics card you have is not T&L (and may not be able to use Direct X 9.0C) The lowest Maxis supported Intel card is the 82845. The 82810 and 82815 are not supported cards. Also, nonT&L cards require that the processor be 2.0ghz or higher.

Unfortunately, the 82810 and 82815 Intel cards are not supported by Maxis. One reason could be that they cannot work with the direct X9.0C as they are quite low level old cards.

As I said earlier, we need to know what you run. It may very well be a software issue and can be corrected with a driver.

    Same Problem

I am too mortified to tell ya how long I have spent trying to play The Sims 2. I have a brand new computer. I have upgraded everything for this computer. I am running the latest version of direct x 9.0c and have the Intel(R) Pentium 4. I have read all of the threads concerning this issue and have tried everything and I still get the message that the graphics adapter is not supported by direct x 9.0. I never say die, but now I am ready to give up and sell this game to a used game store. Can anyone help?

    Thank You Very Much,

    reddutchgirl

what graphics card do you have? ive always gotten that error with s3 cards which are old pos cards anyhow. so if this is your case, dont expect to be able to run ts2 without an upgrade.

well, it looks like that is a supported card according to the ts2 requirements. only thing i can say is just to make sure you have all the windows updates and all your drivers are updated. hopefully someone else can come along and provide more help.

this is the message I found in the 'notes' section.

Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

Any chance you can help me out? It would be much appreciated!
