Hehe. I know the feeling 123. I used to get that way whenever I saw someone with some kind of pet I wanted. :p

Unfortunately that is one of the downside to many snakes as they eat only rodent prey... so if one likes rodents, or has a fear of them, a snake might not be the best choice of pet. ;)
I've had pet mice/gerbils/hamsters in the past so I can understand the "unlikeable" factor of having to use them as feed animals.

I'm not 100% sure on the exact time frame at the moment (I'll check when I have time and edit it in).. but I think I got the female back in May of this year and the male about a month later.

    So, about 6-ish months maybe.

Edit: Correction. I got the female in March.

Here's a new pet I just aquired today when I was visiting the pet store in the next town over. After much research into this animal I was finally able to purchase it for myself and can say that I'm rather surprised and pleased with how it's turning out so far. :D (It's a Ball [Royal] Python).

How big does this python get? Didn't I hear recently that someone was killed by their pet python? (A big one, I guess.) :bitelip:

All of the sites I've checked out say that the Ball python averages around 3 to 5 feet long (uncommonly ones have been measured at 6ft).

Typically a snake won't pose a big threat until it passes the 6ft (or 8ft) range. After that length it's recommended to have two people while around it.

However, if one doesn't know anything (or much) about snakes I would very highly suggest never getting one of a constricting or venomous variety, as their "feelings" aren't as easy to tell as a dog and injuries will more than likely occur due to human error.

I haven't heard anything about Ball pythons killing people yet. Usually human fatalities are involved with the larger species, such as the Burmese or Reticulated pythons - but given that they are pretty rare.

    ;)

Oh cool! I really like snakes. Small ones are the cutest but the biggies are the easiest to cuddle lol :D But personally, I like lizards more. My friend has a really cute lizard, but it must be kind of boring to have because all it does all day is laze about in the sun, eat, sleep that kinda stuff. It needs to go on a diet now it's getting really fat :bitelip:

I don't have any pets :frown: but I don't really have much time to take care of it, so I guess it's kind of good that I don't have one - for the pet, I mean. I'd like to have a ferret though.

I like ferrets :cheerful: Anyone got any ferrets here?
