    problem playing sims 3

I have installed Sims 3 but when I hit play it says there is no disc, please enter disc and retry. The disc is in the drive. Can I play it on my laptop? I have attached the Dxdiag file.

Do you have another computer to see if your game could run? At the moment, anything is possible because your laptop is completely under the system requirements.

    Help

I am trying to help my daughter get this Sims 3 game that she has anticipated coming out for months to work for more than 10 minutes. I do not have a clue what we are doing. I get a message on this computer that the video card is not sufficient. Is it even worth upgrading? And then we have tried another lap top borrowed from my work and she gets about 10 minutes of play time before it crashes and she is a die hart fan to the game- the only video game that interests her at all. Help. I hope I have attached the dxdiag from this computer.

    Hello:

This is the system requirements for The Sims 3.

    FOR WINDOWS XP
    Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
    1 GB RAM
At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content
128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

    FOR WINDOWS VISTA
    Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
    1.5 GB RAM
At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content
128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least:
Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA X3000 or above.
2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
    0.5 GB additional RAM

    SUPPORTED VIDEO CARDS

    NVIDIA GeForce series
    FX 5900, FX 5950
    6200, 6500, 6600, 6800
    7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
    8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
    9600, 9800, GTX 260, GTX 280

    ATI Radeon™ series
    9500, 9600, 9800
    X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
    X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
    2400, 2600, 2900
    3450, 3650, 3850, 3870
    4850, 4870

    Intel® Extreme Graphics
    GMA X3x00 series

    Your Current Laptop indicates:

    Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz
    Memory: 512MB RAM
Card name: ATI Technologies Inc. MOBILITY RADEON 7500 with 32MB RAM

While your CPU is adequate, your RAM is insufficient as well as your graphics card is not on the list of supported graphics. I'm going to hate to break the bad news, but you'll likely need to get a new computer.

I wrote earlier he has 512MB of System RAM :). I don't feel like you could run Vista and Sims 3 well on 1GB of RAM. Maybe 1GB of Video Memory.

We installed the game on another computer and got the same message when she tried to play the game. This is the second disc. I had picked up the game on the day it came out and got the message so I returned it and got the one we have now. Getting same error. If my computer has the right stuff then is it the disc? Should I go for yet a third game?

Do you have any of these applications installed?

    Fantom CD Emulator
    Alcohol 120%
    Nero Image Drive
    Phantom CD
    Clone CD
    Ark Virtual Drive
    Veritas DLA
    Daemon Tools

Try disabling it (uninstalling it) and see if that helps.

Well, I got rid of Nero and Sonic (saw that somewhere else) and still have disc authentication failure. I read somewhere that Roxio could be a problem as well (althought I did disable all DLA on my computer). What do you think?
