"Not to hurt our humble brethren (the animals) is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission - to be of service to them whenever they require it. If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men." Saint Francis of Assisi
My brother said "Do unto others as they would do unto you - only do it first". Donald Rumsfeld, U.S. Defence Secretary, said to a Pentagon Briefing: "There are known knowns. These are things that we know that we know. There are known unknowns, that is to say that there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. These are things we don't know we don't know."
Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. ~Groucho Marx~

We must learn to agree to disagree in order to respect the opinions of others because we are each made individually and held accountable for our own actions. My Mother used to say this to us kids all the time as we were growing up.
