My dear, I would not have your job for all the tea in China, and I like tea. I can't even read the news anymore. Every time I do I'm sorry for it. Patty Smith said that once you become a mother every child becomes yours. I think that's so true, which is why I can't bear to read about families like the ones you deal with. I just feel so strongly that some people should not have children. On a more lighthearted note, I think Pescado hit it on the nose. Even visiting another part of the country is (somewhat) exotic, although sadly the chain stores have made it much less so, even in my (ahem) short lifetime. For example, Savannah, Georgia has some of the most beautiful architecture and some of the most abject poverty I've ever seen. Exotic doesn't always mean good, but it is always fascinating to me to see how other people live.
