    Hi
So i just bought Sims 3 and Pets. Everytime I play for awhile it starts to freeze up then maybe 5 seconds later becomes normal again. Everything freezes but the mouse can be moved around, the sounds, the green diamond thing, shadows and lighting still work. It almost always happen when I speed up the game to 3x sometimes 2x. Any1 know whats the problem my laptop should be able to play this game.

I think that if you look at the actual system specs required for the game, that for Windows 7 you need a faster processor. 2.00ghz is ok for Windows XP, but it seems to me that because Windows 7 is more processor intensive that you have to have a higher processor.

You also didn't post your video card information which could also (especially on a laptop) be below specs. Make sure that your video card is one of the approved ones.

You might be able to get better performance by changing your graphics settings under option. (Most freezing issues show up more when the game is running faster, especially at 3x speed.)

Something else you can try is resetting your Sims. Sometimes a stuck townie can make things intermittantly freeze. (This is especially true if you were using World Adventures as there's one spot where the local Sims tend to get stuck. It's a routing problem.) Use "Resetsim *" (the * being the wild card so that you don't have to try to figure out which Sim might be causing it.)

swmeek I got your benevolent dictator pal!!

The CPU should be fine considering it's a quad core although I've heard that the game and quad cores don't play well together.
Are you using the Aero program on your operating system?
You might try turning it off and seeing if it helps.
You might also see if Asus has any new video drivers for your laptop as well.
Are you using a laptop cooler pad for your laptop?
With a quad CPU and a dual GPU in the same laptop case it might be getting a bit hotter than it should be .
Also if I'm reading this correctly make sure that the game is running off of the Nvidia GPU and not the Intel GPU as the Intel one is not sufficient to run the game either by itself or with any stuff packs.

Well I think its running the Nvidia GPU since i checked the settings in the Nividia option and it has the sims3.exe listed and switched as auto Nividia GPU.
The Video drivers are already updated.

I dont know if its hot or not but i dont feel its hot since mine has the IceCool rest and i have the airCon running.
I dont feel alot of hot air running out the sides when i run the game but the air does get hot when i run other games maybe i'll borrow one from my friends and see.
I've played Dead island with this laptop just fine just dont know about sims 3.
I've reset the sims still got freezes. The funny thing is when i played sims 3 with my desktop duo CPU running XP it doesnt lag at all and it has a similar display device.

dam now that i looked up the recent specs for gaming/design computers i found out i now need to upgrade again when i just recently upgraded. Any recommends for a desktop with powerful display and CPU? Mostly used for maya and 3ds max

If you're going to be using either of those programs look for a decent card like a 560 series card or higher .
It could be a driver issue with windows 7 too.
