:dollarsign: For all you people that own OFB:

What kinds of businesses do you have?
What's ur favorite business that you own?
Any new ideas for shops, stores, etc.? (sometimes i get sick of restaurants and grocery stores) :sarcastic:

Right now my favorite two businesses are a bakery and a flower shop. The flower shop is located in the front of the sim's house and she has a small bedroom, kitchen and living room in the back. I have plans to build a second story and move her up there though. I still want to keep the back room as a private area for her so that I can have the flower station, pottery bench and sewing machine in there but expand the shop to fill the rest of the first floor.

The bakery is a commercial lot that I've had to expand twice because of increased business.

I will add things to both shops from the pottery wheel and sewing machine as my sims increase their skill level with each one.

I usually have my sims own flower or furniture shops. I dont like that they cannot sell clothes on home lots. I have tried to start salons on the community lots and it never works well at all. I can never get anyone to sit in the chair and get a makeover. I eventually get annoyed because sims just come in and look around and exit the lot without ever returning.

I cannot wait until I can get this game and play it! Well, the expansion and the game lol. I have the strategy guides for the Sims 2 and the 6 expansion packs and I like what I read.

Yeah, having the Sims' home business on the first floor and living quarters on the second floor is a good idea. I have had family with businesses like that. I'd have a toy store for mine. Ooh, can you have like a Bed and Breakfast type place? That would be interesting to be able to run one of those in your home.

Has anyone tried running an art gallery? You know, where your creative sim paints and then hangs his pictures on the walls and then sells them? Is that possible???

While I didn't have a business to specifically sell paintings, I had one where that was one of the things that were sold. It worked pretty well.

The business I'm playing with now has some food items (turkey, pork chops, cheesecake and berry pie), a clothes rack and various decorative items. I have just one Sim running it (which was a hassle when he didn't have register skills) and the place is tiny (on one of the special 1x2 lots you can get at MTS2.)

My biggest problem is getting the sims who aren't shopping to leave so that I get more shoppers and fewer people wanting to play catch, kickybag or pillow fight! (Fortunately, they don't take it amiss when the owner says goodbye/asks to leave.) The days when I do that, he seems to make *many* more simoleans.

ARRRGGGHHHH that is a common problem for me

what kind of sim goes to a bakery to socialise ;)
anyway jokes aside (that was a joke:confused:) i find i need two sims to run a business
    1 to handle the register
1 to restock, sell items and kick people off the premises

oh and my favourite business is my toy store.

it has a really big room full of toys and robots and baby things and it has a side room with a mini kitchen/dinning room, another room with a toy bench and ANOTHER room attatched to them with a public toilet (yeap my employees love me, especially since i have a servo cooking treats 24/7:D)

I had him get married to this sweet young thing and now she runs the cash register while he does the other stuff. It does make it a lot easier! (And their profits are up.)

At the moment I'm experimenting with a Florist shop and a Make Over Salon.

i love putting a sim with no talent badges on the makeover salon, it is hilarious watching simmies walk by with the worst haircuts:rolleyes:

I've got a NPC with one lower half of her face painted in weird make up and a sim with a silver badge had done it to her.

    Tut tut.

If I had this game, I think I'd have some houses with one or two different businesses each. That way I can play all of the ones available. Does that make sense? lol

That does make sense. You would have Family A owning a bakery, Family B owning a Florists and so forth.

    (Regarding makeup chair.)

I've found that it's a good idea to have your Sims do a *lot* of practice on their friends/roommates and get that gold badge before letting them work on actual clients. They rarely get the "ugly clown face" (as I call it) if they've got a gold makeover badge.

Yeah, it would be like a small community helping each other out or something. You know, like those villages in England with the locals who own their own businesses to keep the community going. :D

I started a cake shop business. Then I opened a furniture business. It's fun!
