I didn't say what type of fish I said fish bones...it could even be one of those whale sharks , which is considered a more of a fish than a shark (at last check)
I'd further like to point out for the record that, technically, fish don't have bones: They have bonelike cartilaginous structures, but are not, in fact actual bones.
Even so, I don't think you'd manage to actually CLOG the toilet, you'd just fail to flush the bones, and they'd sit there in the bowl as water flowed around them.
Perhaps so, but solid waste, bags of toddler-produced solid/liquid waste, etc. could attach to them, clogging the toilet. But how whale shark cartilage/bone whatevernots would ever find their way into a Sim's toilet is beyond my understanding. Anyway, the only time I've seen a toilet clog was a particularly POS one in a cabin situated in a remote mountain forest. That one clogged when someone there disposed of more solid waste than the toilet's measly pipe could handle. Cleaning up the backwash was *NOT* cool. *barf smiley*
I don't think a sack of crap is capable of clogging the toilet. I emptied an entire kitty litter bag into the thing during testing. Most of the time you don't even need to flush, stuff just FALLS into the massive 14" diameter pipe. Like I said, shoddy merchandise. What ever happened to the GOOD toilet from TS1? That one I don't recall ever seeing it clog.
You may not have ever seen the TS1 toilet clog but my toilets from TS1 were clogged continously. Ahh, the pleasures of having a pack of lazy sims.
I think by "GOOD toilet" JM is referring to the auto-flushing toilet. The auto-flush never clogged because in TS1, the only possible way to clog a toilet was by using it more than once without flushing. Since the auto-flush always flushed itself regardless of how lazy your sim was, it was impossible to clog. In TS2 the toilets clog often even if you always flush between uses. And they do clog entirely too often. Although I'm not sure I'd agree with JM that good quality RL toilets never clog... the toilet itself isn't always the cause of the clog. Here's some entertaining reading for ya...
It's always related to the toilet, or the pipe. Obviously, a clog occurs when the diameter of the pipe is insufficient to perform its specified purpose. Therefore, the obvious solution is to increase the diameter of the pipe until this becomes impossible. Empirical experiments have demonstrated that this effect is achieved satisfactorily at a diameter of approximately 12". To be on the safe side, I ordered a 14" diameter.
Hey! I just wanted you to say what you wanted Maxis to make you for christmas, not start a fricking anti-toilet-is-clogged campain*lol*
That qualifies as "something I'd like to see Maxis make": Equipment that's not made by the lowest bidder! I mean, fortune sims have to have SOMETHING to crave to upgrade other than tree/shrub/flowerbed. I could start to understand their cravings to buy expensive stuff if the expensive stuff wasn't just overpriced junk....
Forget the "never-clog" super toilet...let's just bunk the whole idea of toilets. When was it ever entertaining to watch your sim take a dump? Well...maybe...for some...let's just not answer that. Some form of instant relief would be much more time saving and efficient. Let's face it...walking ALL THE WAY to that bathroom takes too much energy on my part. Yes, MY, part. Because moving the mouse and clicking the button is too much on my precious hands. >.<
Well, if Free Will is on, Sims as of TS2 no longer have an irresistable urge to pee themselves all the time. But yeah, we need one of those Star Trek transporter things. Those guys NEVER have to go to the bathroom, because they just have it beamed away. I still think that the only item that breaks with anything approximating realistic frequency is the computer, though. The only item in TS2 that breaks anything close to as often as it does in real life is the computer.
JM: Where do you buy your toilets? I want one of those. Because I have a high-end toilet from Lowes in my house that clogs if I buy the wrong brand of toilet paper, or whenever my toddler puts something down it! (Yes, my house looks very much like a Sims' house, complete with toddler playing in the bathroom! LOL) As to the other part of the discussion: I would like to say that I would like to say "yes" to all of the answers. I want to be able to download customizable floors/walls mostly, but also be able to have other customizable items as well. There were several sites that made beautiful interiors and exteriors, and I had very nice homes on TS1. I found one site that specialzed in historical house treatments, so I had a whole neighborhood of colonial and antebellum houses. It was a challenge to play those houses, because to make them more historically accurate, they of course had to keep a garden, cook in a cook house seperate from the main house (a typical southern thing in the 1800's) and of course, they had to have an outhouse! The stuff we have with ST2 is very much 21st century, which is good, but sometimes I like to live in other time-periods! LOL And I know I'm not alone with this, because how many of you have or know of someone who creates castles and mansions or has a website of "historical" downloads? There are a ton of them out there for TS1. So, that's what I want for Christmas.
Have you considered returning it as defective? Toilets aren't supposed to do that. I can throw an entire roll of toilet paper into mine, and it'll just plummet to the bottom. Don't even have to flush. Gotta love 14" diameter pipe. I got it from a company that made equipment for zoos. I forget the name, this was many years ago, and I'm horrible with names. I remember one of the TS1 XPs actually gave us an outhouse, IIRC. The hard part about making these cool-looking homes is the simultaneous difficulty in making them playable with a tolerable level of effectiveness. Some of the expensive homes can be horrendously inefficient.
I'd settle for a bug-fix patch as well. But as for additions to the game. Hmm. Expanding the career three would be nice. But not so much by making more careers, but by making trees of the existing straight line careers. Letting the platers choose sub-careers for their careers. For example, will the scientist focus on electronics or genetics? Maybe she's more into creating a A.I. then creating a virus/cure? Oh, and more woohoo options! Threesomes, spankings, suspension bondage... :knockedout:
That IS, of course, likely to be our "Christmas" special. They do have this tendency to make increasingly lame specials. I mean, just look at how they did TS1. In the beginning, the Sim Day was supposed to be a special thing, where they'd present us with skins, or objects, or something. However, pretty soon they gave up on that and just spoon-fed random garbage at us. Nothing that was actually useful or even relevant to the game. That's be pretty neat if not all the career tracks ended in the same way, perhaps branching out to slightly different endings. The Sims Getting Kinky? I don't think they're going to create an expansion pack with THAT kind of rating.
Absolutely I see your point. The fortune sims are for me, difficult to lpay, because they always want something like a new chair. Ok I buy then a new chair. Then a more expensive chair. OK, got that. Then a couch. A larger fridge, a paining, more expensive painting, and so on. It gets tedious, i think. I prefer the romantic Sims or the knowledge Sims
I have several, and have lost two or three of them. These are still up and running. I will go look for the others when I have time, but I think they might have been taken donw: http://www.geocities.com/the1serena/historicalsim_main.html http://www.strategyplanet.com/thesims/sas/
