Perhaps I shall just remain mystified -- as is my usual state of mind when it comes to humanity in general... /sigh
Satanic - yes, in some ways. Cult - If you mean like a bunch of people with leaders trying to drag out every single feeling of personal integrity from the members, yes, it's a cult.
I have no idea what LoN is, sorry. And as far as "satan" I am pagan so I don't believe in an actual being called satan, or lucifer or whatever else you want to call the Christian devil. Although I do firmly believe there is evil in the universe.
Heh, I don't really believe in religion, either. There's too many unanswered questions. The obvious question, "Does God Exist?", remains unanswered. Under the assumption that God exists, the next question, which we CAN answer, is "Does God Deserve To Be Worshipped?". I can't find any really compelling reasons to do so other than fear of divine retribution, but that's not really a good reason to actually WORSHIP someone. It's certainly not a reverential relationship. Evil will always triumph, because good is dumb.
Okay, maybe Rhaewyn is a common nick then. Why did you want to know how old I was, Rhaewyn? I know there's evil out there, and I can't for it to embrace me in it's dark arms. Haha.
My thoughts exactly... and if God does exist, then what was the point of creating us anyway? Hell, what's the point of God? If you're God, you can, well, be. For the rest of eternity. How absolutely wonderful and fulfilling. The everlasting life of a divine being, in my understanding, must be uncomprehensibly boring.
Indeed. I, for one, have no desire to live forever. This does, however, give a very compelling motive as to why a God would create the universe. I mean, look at what we're doing here. If there is any truth to the belief that were are supposedly created in God's image, you need only look around you to realize that God is a very messed up individual. Who will probably drop you in a pool and take away the ladder.
Rofl Makes sense, you know. It's reassuring to know that, assuming the existence of God, that our creation had some purpose behind it, regardless of how twisted it may be. Anyway, it's nice that someone out there shares my views on the matter, it seems that few people do these days.
I'm not sure reassuring is the word I'd use to describe such a contingency. I mean, think of the possibilities: One, that we are a random aberration in the universe, and that no being is behind us. Given that the universe is inherently malevolent, and not being a being, cannot really be appeased, we are certainly all doomed as a result. Alternatively, some more advanced being(s), who we shall refer to as a "god" or "gods", for simplicity, has created us. Now, given that such beings certainly have no NEED of us, it logically follows that we were created for some unnecessary purpose. We are a toy. We are Sims. The Bible, if it carries any truth to the matter, probably more by coincidence than anything else, claims we were created in the image of said God-being. Now, even the best of us tend to set fire to our Sims when they piss us off. The Bible seems to suggest that God isn't any better. Given the way the world works, the fact that we are not all famous athletes, business tycoons, generals, and hospital chiefs suggests that God is not is either not a very good player, or is a sadist. We are all doomed. I really don't think reassuring was the right word.
*re-reads posts* Okay, I'm tired, it's late and I'm reading text. I think I'll go swim in a pool now..
LOL. I've also been struggling to reconcile revelance with reality. JM, dear. You are a fabulous raconteur as well as being witty and acerbic.
Amen to that. JMP, I think I'm going to start compiling a collection of your posts. They're some very enjoyable reading.
*scratches his head* OK, So, "God" is sitting at his puter, playing a rather advanced version of "Earth Sims" laughing, crying, getting pissed cuz we dont go to the bathroom and end up wetting ourselves. Comforting thought, aint it?
