LOS ANGELES, Nov. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — With a continued focus on economic and environmental concerns, manufacturers are increasingly focused on high-mileage and low emission vehicles. The 2010 LA Auto Show will feature more than 50 electric, hydrogen fuel-cell electric, hybrid, clean diesel and natural gas vehicles, all providing viable solutions for cleaner transportation.
This year’s show also marks the historic arrival of the modern electric car era. After years of anticipation, consumers can finally own mass-produced electric vehicles. The first two highly anticipated vehicles to kick-off this modern era of electric transportation include Chevrolet’s range extended electric Volt and Nissan’s battery electric LEAF. A dozen more electric drive vehicles will be featured at the show. More than half of the production vehicles on display will be for sale in the coming year, and others are forward looking concepts that will map out how electric transportation will progress in the future.
With new green concepts and production vehicles from at least 20 manufacturers, consumers have a greater selection of low-emission, high-mileage vehicles to choose from than ever before. Hybrids still represent the largest volume of “green” vehiclesincluding the popular Toyota Prius, Honda Civic and Ford Fusion hybrids, and KIA plans unveil its first hybrid, the Optima sedan.
